A rumoured Z2 Compact is on its way, code named XX; It’s still dust proof and waterproof, and as expected and it can resist up to 100 centimetres of water in around 30 minutes.

Design remains the same classic Sony style of other Xperia handsets before it.

The OS here is Android 4.4.2 KitKat just like the Z2 and Z1 Compact and the display is 720p 4.5 inches, slightly bigger than the Z1 Compact but strangely only powered by a 2000mAh battery - that's 300 less than the Z1C. It matches the resolution and I guess dpi too.

If the Snapdragon 801 CPU that powers the handset is more economical then great but I fear the battery life will suffer, one of the selling points of the Z1C; Elsewhere we have 2 GB of RAM, 16 GB of storage and a microSD card slot. The camera has been placed more centre and it’s got a smaller 12 mega-pixel unit with LED flash and 1080p 30 FPS video capture.

Lets see if this comes to market sometime between August to November this year.
