I would like to introduce myself to everyone, my name is Jason Dragunov (thought it isn't my real last name, but we can stay there for the sake of anything). I am an artist, digital artist, tech lover, Android enthusiast, a learning UX designer, a java learner, photographer and a gamer since I could remember Super Mario bros. 2 an the age of 4.
In short I moved to Russia from New Orleans, Louisiana my hometown. So currently I've been living here for a little over three years now, and here is where I began my conception of the Android Desktop OS. But, before we get into the origins of the idea, let me lay down some groundwork and ideas that I want everyone to get into and understand about my vision.
I believe in some fair competition on the desktop, I really do. But I also believe that we shouldn't be limited to something. I believe there should always be choices, even if it is just one extra choice, that is better than nothing at all. But that extra choice is Android. Why does Windows get a pc, tablet and phone counterpart? Or what about OSX and iOS? What about Ubuntu and it's upcoming platforms? But Android isn't in need of one? I most certainly believe it is.
Now some say, "Well Android doesn't belong on the desktop." And well, I respect everyone's opinions, but at the same time, I believe in my vision. I would ask myself, "Why can we NOT have Android on the Desktop?" I just can't find a reason why it can't be done. I mean, yes, it works well on tablets and phones and Ouya and whatnot, but who is to say it just CAN'T have a desktop counterpart?
Sure it was written for ARM and whatever else any other company did. But why limit it? I see Android in a different light and the potential is there. Why should we be limited to base players like Windows, Mac or Linux and its distros? Yes I know Android is a distro, but Android stands well on its own to be its own player in the game
It seems for some reason Google shot themselves in the foot by producing Chrome OS. And I am by no means bashing on Chrome, it has its own perks that appeal to someone in someway. But when Android was on a rise, there was a time to push that market with it, to strike fear in competitors to be the next desktop killer. But that opportunity never came to fruition and instead we got Chrome. But, I love Android as a whole and I want to see it pushed to the next level.
Sure, it was written for phones and tablets, sure there isn't all that power behind it. But by what rule says this can't be changed? What rule says it wouldn't ever work on a desktop? There are none. So why not make that change? Now you may say, "Oh well there isn't a lot of power behind Android." or "Processor this" or "Problems that." That can all be changed.

Android has the potential for gaming, media, powerful programs and many other things, it just isn't configured to its full potential. Integrating it all together is very possible. You may think it is a waste of time putting Android on Intel architecture, core I's, heavy graphics cards and other things because, well, there is no need for it. Well you have to create a need for it. If you make it possible, people will build for that power. More powerful games, programs and media.
I want to say that I do know about x86, I do know about Android01 from some guys at Intel, I do know about how "Intel has a thousand engineers making Android compatible," I know about all that. But the scale I have my vision of Android is beyond any of that. Whatever idea they have, it isn't on the same level of what I am trying to unleash into the world. You can't make a comparison of what I am creating to what is on the internet. Two different ballparks.
If you were to take Android and flip into it some better components, rework its insides, add into it power and usability, I can most certainly guarantee that many people all over the world will happily install it to their desktops and use it daily. I hear replies and messages all the time asking for an installable rom, or that this is what they have been waiting for, or when is it going to be released. People are amazed and satisfied with the progress I've made. There is a demand for it, and I feel it should be met.
There is a time and place for everything, and no one is taking advantage of this, so I feel that I should. Yes, it is time consuming and a long journey, but it pays off in the end, and it will be worth it. We can't allow companies to limit our choices. We can't allow companies to continue to buy off everything in sight to reduce competition. People are scared to invest in Android as a desktop counterpart, and I don't know why, but I am not afraid of putting in my time. If no one else is going after this, then I will be the serious first to do so. I can say with an honest heart that I believe this would do exceedingly well when pushed to the general public, it would catch on very quick. So I ask you bare with me and believe in the vision I've been seeing since March of 2013.
Let me place a note to say that, Android is in the 3.0 stage and that is has gone through at least 7 previous stages, which include middle stages.
I want to introduce what is currently displayed high and bright for you all to see. Just remember these are never finalized nor perfect and things are subject to change.
I want to say that a lot of dedication and thought have went into this idea to get it to where it is today. But the vision I have for Android is grand. I want to say how much resource I have laid out, ideas, concepts and many other things.
I have at least 25 sheets of paper just doodled in notes and ideas about how this works and how that works. This will be Android but it will be transformed, more user friendly, more accessible.
I want you to be able to open this OS and say, "Oh this is great, so easy, so new of a feeling." This idea is made for you, for me and for the many in between. There is such a large scale I have laid out, you couldn't even imagine. I've spent countless hours coming up with how to make this better, but still be Android. It has gone from user experience, to folder designs, to settings of Android, to many other things.
I want the world to see this and be excited. This isn't about me, I am in no means placing myself on a pedestal. This is about you and being excited for something new. As I said before, I love Android as much as the next person, but it is time to make something right in the community.
I want you to be a part of this group, this new foundation. I want you to interact and give feedback and be a part of it all. Whether anyone believes in Android on the desktop or not, it will come sooner or later.
I want to encourage you all to join the Android Desktop group, come in and be a part of it all,
or join the team if you are as passionate about Android as I am or believe in the work I have laid out.
You can also find me on G+, Facebook or email me at TooLateImDead@gmail.com. Feel free to add me and ask any questions.
And if you want to try an online interactive demo you can try it here . Do remember that it is mouse friendly not touch friendly. This is just a rough idea and I am always working to change things. So click around find some cool stuff and leave some feedback!
A very important note: I am looking for coders of C and Java, those with any OS building experience, anyone with expertise in creating, any graphics artists, icon makers, anyone with better knowledge of how things work than I do, because I am still a novice in what I do and am always looking to learn more.
Please feel free to share this information and encourage anyone to come on in and experience what is coming next.
I thank you for your time and patience.
