Pleased it comes with Android because having yet another Eco system on the already crowded market would be over kill. Samsung think they can bully out Android with their Tizen being readied for release into 3rd world markets.
It does have some tasty features, namely the dual boot into Android (which is based on Linux) or into the popular Ubuntu Mobile OS. 128Gb of onboard storage is tasty too, which we guess can be visible from either of the OS platforms. Dual LTE is also handy for international travelers - full spec as follows.
- Dual boot Ubuntu mobile OS and Android
- Fully integrated Ubuntu desktop PC when docked
- Fastest multi-core CPU, 4GB RAM, 128GB storage
- Micro-SIM
- 4.5in 1,280 x 720 HD sapphire crystal display
- 8mp low-light rear camera, 2mp front camera
- Dual-LTE, dual-band 802.11n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4, NFC
- GPS, accelerometer, gyro, proximity sensor, compass, barometer
- Stereo speakers with HD audio, dual-mic recording, Active Noise Cancellation
- 11-pin connector providing simultaneous MHL and USB OTG
- 3.5mm jack
- Silicon-anode Li-Ion battery
- 64 x 9 x 124mm
"The campaign has sparked a level of interest that has surprised even us," he said, adding that the campaign seized the attention not only of phone enthusiasts but innovators and futurists as well as manufacturers.
He added that some large manufacturers had come "out of the woodwork" to discuss the device with him.
Fugly Mofo
Not sure if the handset is much of a looker - IHAG think its Fugly to say the least, hopefully if this does make it to market the design will change slightly.
See for yourself - what do you think !? More details over at the Crowdfunding website Indiegogo. Great idea but the $700 price tag might be enough to put someone off with some of the more essential features missing from mainstream handsets missing, no Gorilla Glass ?! eek
