Well simple, we needed to start somewhere and people are still buying the Samsung S3 because of its current attractive price points across the networks in the UK.
The I9300 came with a 2100mah battery, which only lasted less than 10hrs abuse if you were lucky. However lucky that the battery compartment was user accessible, and some after market units could be fitted, the biggest one of all.... the Zero Lemon 7000mah available on Amazon.
Something you will notice right away, the battery is HUGE, it does double the thickness of the handset using up all the normal battery space, and then some. On the up side you do get a very good rubber backing and surround, which is lipped to cling onto the screen. Ah ! yes that all important lip that gives the screen some protection too. The additional size is encased in the thick rubber case.
So how does your new brick perform !? Well very good I'm glad to say, since this is just £20 at the time of writing, its a bit of a bargain. After a few weeks of treating the S3 like it was a new found toy the battery would last at a minimum 36hrs, thats longer than the Motorola RAZR Maxx manages from stock. Under real world conditions, I have managed 3 days out of the Zero Lemon.
Plus in the name of science I have dropped the handset on the floor several times and the handset has lived another day.
We liked the Zero Lemon, and improves one of the few weak spots of an otherwise great handset (minus the touchwiz rubbish).
On the downside, it does take 5-7hrs to charge it, even with a fast charge. The battery does need to be drained completely 3/4 times before you get the best performance too.
** Update **
ZL is now available for the S4, with 7500mah life (around the same 3 days) and cane be had from Amazon in the UK and the US Here
