As each week passes we have a new rumor doing the rounds.

The Nexus 5 will be a Moto X type device; that was the Internets best guess last week. Now the LG G2 is out we are told from some corners of the press the Nexus 5 will be based on the G2.
Google will not tell us just yet when it gets people talking about the new handset which gets plenty of pixel time on peoples news feeds. Twitter and G+ is alive with new quotes from Engineers with cryptic messages ranging from posts about toasters and over use of the letter X. I would bet my last dollar Google are having fun with us over our insatiable need for this information, like some kind of over excited football agent and his clients next club. Passing rumor round to increase stock.

Overlooking all this BS; Moto or Sony need a shot at Nexus. Here is why. While the Nexus 4 was a good handset and had a sparkly back it was fragile. The bumper case didn't work. The screen was just OK. The camera did kinda suck. Biggest kicker of them all the battery ( an annoyance of any handset here in IHAG towers, as written here) was awful, like all other LG handsets. Now we understand the G2 will have a bigger battery, but Moto have cracked optimised power on the X. Its also around the sweet spot on price wise too. Sony make great camera for handsets (nearly all camera phones have Sony tech in) plus they design their latest handsets much better than LG. Waterproof too ? Yes please.

So who could make the N5 ?

Moto would be an obvious choice huh ? Well no. Google will not want to alienate the vendors that distribute its OS by choosing an in house company. No doubt Google bought Moto for its patent portfolio, which turned out to be a pup, but it can ensure Android lives on through Motorola at least if Windows Phone, Tizon (whatever its called) the Samsung OS, or even iOS recovers some market share. This bi-product of its Motorola purchase is good. However for now, Google have got a good product out of the Moto X onto shelves albeit in the US only which is a massive gaff but we will see what they do in Europe.

Where does that put us. Ah back to LG or Sony. Sony's product line seems to be deep with the Xperia pipine for them to release another phone by September / October ... Surely the incoming Sony  handset isn't the N5 due to the spec list will be more of a high end product.
Logic suggests its LG but there will be compromise over the G2 if indeed the press are correct. We don't need another Nexus 4, regardless of how cheap it was, we want something new.

Come on Google! Put us out our misery and just tell us !
